Brooke, Mekah, Angus, Matthew L, Matthew M, Cole, Luke, Charlie K and Libby represented Ormond School at the Interschool Swimming Sports at Enterprise Pool. They all showed confidence, determination and perseverance and we are so proud of how well they all swam! Ka mau te wehi!

Congratulations also to Luke for reaching the finals and placing 2nd in freestyle, 3rd in backstroke and 1st in breaststroke - a fantastic achievement!

Term 3 - We're Back!

Great to see most of our class back at School today!

We have started off with a bang, with Swim for Life lessons at Enterprise Pool.  These lessons are to help us become stronger swimmers and learn some valuable skills that could be used in survival situations around water. We will continue these lessons for the whole term.

The Great Egg Drop Challenge!

Our last STEM Challenge of the term was the Great Egg Drop Challenge! Our aim was to protect our egg when it was dropped from a big height - we didn't want any Humpty Dumptys! We worked in pairs to plan our design, work out what we needed and who was going to bring it and then we made our designs at school.

Finally on Friday, we tested our designs out with Mr Poole's help.  Check out the video to find out the fate of our eggs...

Online Assembly - Week 6

Term 2, Week 6 - BACK AT SCHOOL!

We returned to School this week - hooray! It has been so good to connect in person again and everyone was excited to see each other. We are still having our Meets in the morning so that we connect with those that are still at home. We have to remember to social distance (at least an arm length away) and keep washing and sanitising our hands, especially after we have been playing outside.

Many of our learners liked the flexibility and choice of our distance learning, so we are carrying this on. We have also kept our creative and hands on components of our timetable, although lego is a no go for now.

Distance Learning - Term 2, Week 3

With ANZAC Day being observed on Monday and a Teacher Only Day on Tuesday, this week of learning has been a shorter one.

Our literacy and numeracy has carried on and we have started a science theme for our daily challenges and STEM Challenge.  We have made lava lamps, fireworks in a jar and volcanoes with learners posting photos and videos on our class Padlet and on their Blogs.

We have also had scavenger hunts and quizzes on our morning Google Meet.  It has been lots of fun!

Congratulations to our FLAX Learner Award recipients Madeleine and Natalie.

Distance Learning 2020 - Term 2, Week 2

We have been so impressed with how well everyone in Rimu Learning Hub is going with their learning from home.  We have Google Meets as a class every morning where we catch up and talk about the day ahead and answer questions.  Being able to share our screen to show what we are talking about has been invaluable and we also have learners share their screens at times to give them support as well.

Our focus this week has been on ANZAC Day, which is coming up on 25th April.  As well as our normal literacy and numeracy time, we have built ANZAC challenges into our day.  We have also used padlet, flipgrid and blogs for the learners to share what they have been learning.

Congratulations to this week's FLAX Learner Award winners: Hunter and Kieran!
