Would you rather? - a Flipgrid activity

Today we used Flipgrid to answer the question
 "Would you rather?"
Listen to what we decided.
Our Flipgrid was shared with Matawai School and they have added their responses and replied to some of us as well.

Real or Fake?

Mrs Torrie had lots of different images today for us to look at.  We had to decide whether we thought it was a real photo or it was fake.  Sometimes it is hard to decide!

We then had the opportunity to make our own fake photo.  Check out Charlotte's work...

What is Media?

Today we talked with Mrs Torrie about what media is and what media we have used already today.  We then made our own example of media we use.  We took selfies and then removed the background, followed by a background or picture of our choice to show us using media.

Here is Brooke's work...

Seeking Help

Today with Mrs Torrie, we talked about what to do if someone is not being nice online.  Be an Upstander and do something about it.  Ask them to stop, take a screenshot and email it to 3 trusted adults.  We had a practice screenshotting and emailing these during our session.  All of our learners now know how to do this.

Here are Monty's messages on seeking help...

Animating our Cybersmart Character

Today Mrs Torrie showed us how to animate our Cybersmart Characters that we created last week.  We had to make multiple copies of our slides and adjust each one slightly so that when they play together it looks like our Characters are moving.  We were so engaged in this task and they look really great!  Here is Braiden's work below...

Cybersmart Character

For the last 2 weeks we have been creating a Cybersmart character to give people positive messages about being Cybersmart.  We worked in pairs and we had to use comments to communicate with our buddy.  Most of us used shapes to make our Cybersmart character.  We gave our character a name and we thought about the messages we wanted them to say.  We wanted our messages to be positive and tell people what they should do.

Here is Le Vaine and Joshua's Cybersmart character and messages...

Ka pai tō mahi Le Vaine and Joshua!

Maths Quiz for New Zealand Maths Week.

This week in our Cybersmart lesson with Mrs Torrie, we were learning to link slides.

We had to create a Maths Quiz.  We thought about the Maths problems we wanted to use and thought about a theme.  For each question, we would write the question, give 1 correct answer and 3 incorrect answers.  Then we linked the slides to the answers so that when we had a correct answer, it was linked to the correct answer slide and then took us to to the next question.  If we answered incorrectly, then it was linked to the incorrect answer slide and took us back to the same problem.
Our learners were so engaged in this task and we are looking forward to trying out each others' quizzes.

Here is Izaac's Quiz...

Smart Learners Use Images Labelled For Reuse

This week we were learning about using images that are labelled for reuse.
Images on the internet have copyright and we must only use images we are allowed to.
Thomas has used an image he found by searching
in the right place in Google Drawings.
Ka mau te wehi Thomas!

Kawa of Care Collage

This week we worked on making a collage in
Google Drawings to make our Kawa of Care.
We had to insert 4 shapes onto the collage.
Then we had to write 4 ways to look after our devices.
Here is Lily's work about the Kawa of Care.
Ka pai Lily!

Cybersmart

We are learning how to be Cybersmart.
Mrs Torrie from Manaiakalani comes in every week
for Cybersmart lessons.

This term we are learning how to look after our devices.
We have to carry them using the "forklift hold"
when moving around with them.
And as we hug and hold our devices we can see
where we are going to and walk safely.
